JURRASIC COAST ULTRA CHALLENGE FOR MARIE CURIE
“I am fundraising for the Marie Curie Charity in the Dorset area. Marie Curie Nurses have never been needed as much as in these past two years; to be able to provide the support needed, fundraising has become more crucial than ever.
I am looking to raise awareness for this wonderful charity. The money raised will continue funding the nurses and all that is involved in making a terminally ill person as comfortable as possible in their last days. I am Dorset born and bred, work for the NHS, live for the outdoors… me in a nutshell! So, when I found out about the Jurassic Coastal Path run, I knew this was a perfect way to challenge myself and help the community.
On 22nd May 2021 I will participate in the 100km Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge, including a personal time challenge to complete the distance in less than 16 hours. Starting at Corfe Castle, I will make my way across country, following the coastline until the finish in Bridport. My training began in October 2020 and has seen incredible highs and painful lows; but all the pain and broken toes I have endured pales in the knowledge of the heartache, that so many have faced this year and last, given the global pandemic.
The charity is facing a potential loss of more than £3 million due to the cancelled public collections and this is where you can help. Your donation today would enable free nursing care for people with terminal illnesses within our community and Dorset area, as well as support for family and friends.
